Biggest Looser...

Ok so normally I don't really post about this stuff but you know what it's totally on my mind and I want feedback. I read a blog post a while ago on a fellow bloggers blog and she went on a little rant about how she is pretty sure people read her blog but don't leave comments. I'm totally guilty buuuuut.... if that is you today you must and have to leave a comment.
So it has been 6 weeks since our sweet lil baby entered the world! I LOVE HIM! He is such a good little baby and is such a joy in our life.... BUT... with having a baby comes the fun and dreaded topic of WEIGHT. LOL! OK, so this is what I want to hear your feedback. Please. Ok so with Zack I gained ALOT ALOT ALOT of weight. It was awesome... lol anyways after Zack I stressed over the weight issue and it was so hard because all I wanted to do was GET IT OFF FAST. So anyways, this time with Preston I thought you know what I am just going to enjoy my boys those first 6 weeks as I really shouldn't be exercising until I get the go ahead from my dr. WELL... I had my apt on Tuesday and she said things look good and to start but start slowly. SO...(this is getting rather lengthy...) but I want to hear your story. How much weight did you gain with your baby, babies, ect. How did you get it off? and How long did it take? Did you nurse? What did you do to get your baby weight off? I have decided that weight watchers, or Jenny Craig things like that aren't for me. I am just going to work out and try and eat healthy. Like I said I normally wouldn't post about something like this but it has been on my mind so I wanted some feedback. I know the weight will come (yes I am anxious) but it's nice to have some encouragement and feedback. Like if she can do it then so can I, kinda deal. Anyways LET ME HEAR YOUR STORY! Don't be shy or bashful. I can't wait!
Here's to happy weight loosing....lol

  1. I'll comment, I'm not shy! That's so funny, I must have read the same blog cause last night I was thinking of posting and saying hey if you read this leave a comment! Maybe I still will. Aaaaanyway... all I know is that baby fat #2 likes to stick around a lot longer than the first and that I lose most of mine after I've stopped nursing (Rigby might get cut off sooner than later... j/k) but you'll get there, just be patient and don't compare yourself to others!

  2. make sure you listen to your dr and start slow. I tried to start exercising and my milk totally thinned, i didn't loose it or anything...it just turned into skim. It only took a few days to notice that Banks was trying to chew his arms off. so needless to say no exercising for me until i quit nursing. Although because i waited it out, I only had a 10 lbs to loose, which is still very slowly coming off. Good luck, and my best advice is...don't try and fit into your skinny clothes, it just makes you feel like crap. go get that in between size and let your body do it thing and in a few months they will be drowning you.

  3. hm, was that fellow blogger me? I'm assuming it was.
I totally thought you were being rude about it at first, but then I read it again and noticed you agree, and want comments. Am I right?
    I'm super confused. lol
As for the baby weight. I gained 45lbs with both pregnancies, the twins and Kyla. I lost it all in 3 month and was in my skinniest jeans at 3 months. I never worked out either. Only breastfed. I swear that works wonders. So that's my only advice. Just keep nursing! I am trying the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred right now to just get in "shape" not to lose weight, but your supposed to lose 20lbs in 30 days, so maybe once you have the ok to work out harder, give it a try. I've heard a lot of great feedback about it!
Sorry i'm no help and you probably hate me for sharing my story, but you asked! lol ;)

  5. First of all, dont worry about what you weigh, worry about your inches. That was my biggest struggle to overcome at first. You can weigh 20lbs more than your neighbor, but wear the same size of clothes....that is usually the case with me, in fact, my sister in law, told me how much she weighed, she was complaining, and I was shocked to find out I was 20lbs heavier then her, but i could fit a smaller jean size, not sure how that works, but that was what happened there.

here is my story: Before I had kids I didnt exercise, I should have, just to be healthy, but I didnt, and I didnt gain or lose, I just fluctuated within 5 lbs since I hit puberty. So when I got pregnant with my first, I gained 50 POUNDS...yeah, you read that right. I had no clue how to be pregnant and how to manage the weight. And then after I still didnt know how to lose it, it had always just come and gone my whole life. So I tried to exercise here and there and didnt care what I ate. I lost about half of that, then got pregnant again, yeah, at 25lbs heavier than I had been (remember this was before I grasped the concept that inches are what matter). RIght before I got pregnant with my second I got really down on myself when my other sister in law, who was 9 months pregnant, told me how much she weighed and we weighed the same. SO, I decided that if I was going to do it this time, I was going to do it right. So, I exercised everyday, minus weekends and holidays (I needed a break here and there), just a little 10 minute work out, didnt want to go too hard, especially cause I wasnt used to it and was pregnant. ANyway, I only gained 25lbs that time, success! And then after I had her, I lost that weight in like 6-8 weeks, easy, it just came off...I think because of the exercising, then I got busy. I found a good blog of a cousin of my husbands http://healthdiabetic.blogspot.com/ she gives great tips and recipes. It all came down to continuing to exercise, but mainly eating and having portion control and eating breakfast...during this time I realized the whole inches is what matter thing, and I went down to a size 5...hadnt been that way for like 10 years, and it felt great! Now that I am pregnant, i was 10lbs lighter when I got pregnant this time, but 5 sizes smaller, and I still feel good...i am trying to exercise and eat right portion sizes and only add the needed calories for pregnancy....did any of thsi make sense? email me if you have any other questions shonandvin@gmail.com...oh and the exercise I did, pilates and tae bo...dumb, but simple I can do it at home, not go to a gym, and keep my kids at home with me...

  7. With my first I gained about 30 lbs. I was so shocked when I had lost about 25 lbs by six weeks (I din't exercise or change what I was eating, I was just breast feeding). But, I never lost that extra 5 lbs, in fact when I stopped breast feeding I gained another 5 lbs before I got pregnant.

With my second, I gained a little more than 20 lbs (I was the same end of pregnancy weight with both girls). Again, the pregnancy weight (except 5 lbs) melted off really quickly. When I quit breast feeding I was 10-13 lbs heavier than when I got pregnant with my first.

I decided that if I wanted to have another baby I better start exercising. I lost some weight doing Biggest Loser and Jillian Michaels videos, but more importantly I felt healthier. I had decided to really commit to losing weight by eating healthier, controlling portion size, and exercising regularly, when I found out I was pregnant again!

I'm due in five or so weeks and I'm on track to be the same end of pregnancy weight. Hopefully I lose the weight (and inches) this time. Let me know if you find something that really works.

  8. Well, weight after babies sucks. I found that it was WAY harder to lose that last 10 pounds after Paige than with Elle. Just drink LOTS of water and do stroller workouts when you can....short walks with lunges, ect. Keep nursing and don't stress about it. Stress keeps weight on! Good luck..you look amazing anyway though.

  9. First of all I just saw you and you look AMAZING!!!! So you don't need to be stressing about this!
MY first I gained about 25 and I lost it fast like around a week. My second I gained around 25 again but lost it like freaky fast and I was way smaller and lighter about a day after I had my baby. I had the same amount of weight gain for my third, however this time has been AWFUL!!!! At 9 months I just hit my pre pregnancy weight. I do however blame this on my love for chocolate and McDonalds.:)
My advice is just don't stress it will come off eventually.

  10. haha so i am totally creepin on your blog and i suppose i better leave a comment eh?!
well...all i have to say is weight in general not to mention BABY weight sucks....but your babies are dang freaken cute! I just wish girls didn't care so much, then I wouldn't care so much haha but if you really want permanent success a lifestyle change is what will really make the difference I think...haha still hoping anyway
    (oh and nursing totally does...because i stopped and gained 6lbs in literally 1 1/2 weeks....shoot )

  12. hey mandy, yes, i am creeping. . . but i love the topic and reading everyone else's comments, so i figured i would leave you one as well!

you probably don't have a clue who i am, but i am from raymond (same year as you) and lived with elaine and lauren in edmonton. anyway. . .

with my first, i gained 35 lbs. it came off pretty easy, just from breastfeeding (i swear by it). i am now two weeks away from having my second, and have gained about 30 so far. i am really anxious this time about how my body will respond, and how quickly it will bounce back! sometimes i wonder if there was something else i did with the first, because i actually got smaller than i was before getting pregnant, but it was just breastfeeding. i've always been a pretty healthy eater, so that probably helps.

good luck on the journey, i'll be right there with you soon! i love all the comments telling you not to stress, it's SO TRUE. nothing will keep that weight on quicker than stressing about it. lol.

  13. Mandy,
Ah, I think all we child-baring ladies can relate. Sad, but true.
I gained over 60 lbs (EEEK!) with Jaxon. But I lost about 35 lbs in the first week, so I guess it was probably mostly water weight.
I actually lost all the baby weight without trying (I felt so crappy after my c-section that I literally had to force myself to eat).

Buuuuut.... I gained a bunch back when Jaxon was about 8 months old or so. So this spring I made up my mind that those 15 lbs just had to go! I worked out like mad for a few months and.. nothing! For me it was waaaay more about what I was eating, than how much I was exercising. I actually stopped doing cardio, and just started doing the small weights, and I stoppped eating after supper time. Also, I really focuaed on portion control.

Viola!! Off it came. So that is my suggestion. Don't eat after 8:00, and gain muscle (Dr Oz said muscle burns 12 times more calories than fat!!). Good luck, girl!! You always look fabulous, but I do know how you are feeling. It is hard not to feel like "Your old self"!

  14. Oh Mandy! I often read blogs and don't comment...so I guess you could call me a blog creep too. I gained 32lbs with Christian, but I lost 25 of it in the first 2 weeks. I had MAJOR nursing issues, so probably only truly nursed exclusively for 3 weeks...which means that I had to jog off each and every one of the rest of the weight. Even though I hit my pre-pregnancy weight at around 3 months, the body shape and sizes were NOT the way they were before. I gained back 5lbs at the 7 month mark. Right around the same point I stopped losing my hair (not sure if that was connected or not) Ugh. I found eating smaller portions and jogging did the trick. Good luck!

  15. I happend to find your blog today and I did a rant about no one commenting so I have to comment here today! haha I have no stories of pregnancy!

  16. So I realize that this comment is way late, but I just read your post and thought what the heck!! For me, breastfeeding is not the key. I CANNOT, CANNOT lose weight while I breastfeed. I exercised super hard one time with my second for 4 months and barely lost anything. Once I stop breastfeeding, I can lose weight way faster. I'm a big video workout person, whereas some people can't stand them. My favorites are Turbo Jam and most recently the Brazil Butt Lift. It's AMAZING!! You can get them both from Beachbody.com. But mostly you need to eat well and control the portion sizes, and realize that weight loss takes time. It's taken me about a year and a half to get to where I am now. Maybe that's just my body though. Anyways, Good luck!

  17. My secret to losing my baby weight, was I worked out (elliptical 4 times a week and a pregnancy work out DVD) my whole pregnancy except my last 3 weeks. I think that really helped as I only gained 20 lb. and I ate very WELL.

After words I had to wait the 6 weeks. Killer. Other then I went on slow walks with Lincoln. After the 6 weeks I got back to my work out routine slowly. My doctor told the best way to start working on Abs after a c section was "Plank on Elbows and Toes" not direct sit ups and such...My favorite work out I do is the Women's Health Ultimate Fat Burn" DVD. I feel like I'm going to die every timee I do it. It's a good one....I lost all my baby weight and some by 6 weeks. Key to losing weight is staying fit all the time.
